How do you enclose a porch?
A porch already has a roof, so usually only the sides are closed, with glass curtains or, on a long front, frameless sliding glass. A roof that leaks or sits too low is replaced with a fixed or retractable one. Insulated curtains and a fixed roof make it a winter living room. The visit checks posts, beam, floor and drainage.

Before you enclose
What should you check before enclosing a porch?
The porch is already built, and its condition decides what can be fitted around and above it.
- The posts and the beam: the curtain tracks are fixed to them.
- The current roof: if it leaks or is too low, it is worth replacing at the same time.
- The floor: it has to be level for the panels to run smoothly.
- Rainwater drainage: once the porch is closed, water must not collect against the glass.

Questions about porch enclosures
Do I need to replace the porch roof to enclose it?
Not always. If the roof is in good condition, the glass curtains are fixed to the existing beam. It is only replaced if it leaks or cannot take the load.
Glass curtains or sliding glass for a porch?
Curtains stack away completely and leave the porch fully open. Sliding glass has fewer panels and works well on long fronts. The choice depends on the opening and how you use the porch.
Does an enclosed porch become an extra room?
With insulated curtains and a fixed roof it can be used as a room in winter. Single glass keeps out wind and rain but does not insulate.
How much does a porch enclosure cost?
It depends on the measurements, the system and whether the roof needs replacing. We do not publish prices: the quote follows the site visit and measuring.
Can the porch be opened up in summer?
Yes. Glass curtains stack to one side and sliding panels park behind each other, so the porch is open again.
